Prepositions are words which are placed before nouns and pronouns to show how other nouns or pronouns are related to them.
1. The cat climbed up the tree after a squirrel.
2. My house is at the foot of a hill.
3. This book came from Edinburgh.
4. My fountain pen is on the table in my library.
In these sentences up, after, at, of, from, on and in are prepositions.
